| The Weekly — Week 367: Hold Until Relieved |

It is a known fact that throughout the war Humanity was almost always on the defensive, fighting tooth and nail for every scrap of ground against the Covenant onslaught to buy as much time as they could in the hopes that one day it would be them on the offensive, and giving back ten-fold what the Covenant had made them take. Taking inspiration from this narrative I've decided that this week, I want you to write about your characters in a defensive action where there only objective is to hold out for as long as possible. Maybe write about a Spartan helping to hold the line on some colony to cover evacuation efforts, an Elite struggling to survive a Brute attack during the Bloody Schism, or maybe even take a page out of CE's book and have some Marines and Jackal's making a desperate last stand against a Flood horde. I'm setting a 1500 word limit for this one, but I'll allow 10% over to allow tidying up before deducting points and I will be checking to make sure you all follow it! |

 Ash Mitchell was a man rose from humble beginnings to become a distinguished soldier during the Human-Covenant War, participating in some of its bloodiest battles as an Orbital Drop Shock Trooper. A hard-working and dependable individual, Ash would earn the respect of his comrades as he saw them through the war's final battles and continued to serve as an officer for several years until his doubts over the UNSC's post-war direction led to his departure from the military in 2555. Seeking to earn a living as a mercenary out on the galaxy's new frontier, he tried to make a difference across the lawless planets at the very fringe of colonised space as part of a misguided attempt to do some good without official procedure holding him back. Disillusioned with the state of things and increasingly desperate, Mitchell would end up working for the elusive terrorist known as Magnus on a number of operations, building a reputation as a terrifying enforcer in the criminal underworld. He was eventually framed by Magnus after a bloody massacre on Circumstance in 2556 and left for dead, hunted by both the UNSC and numerous bounty hunters. Reviled as the 'Butcher of Kuiper', Mitchell went on the run for some time before joining the crew of the Dynasty under another fugitive, Amanda Wade. The pair would embark on a lengthy campaign of vengeance against those who wronged them, only to lose almost everything in the process after a disastrous mission to Madrigal. Mitchell and his partner would go into hiding following this, tired of what he saw as a pointless fight against vastly superior foes. |

| Fanon of the Month — May 2025: Erin-G174 |

 Originally conscripted as the youngest of the Beta recruits, Erin struggled with many of the requirements she was expected to meet. She became afflicted with an at-the-time unknown illness during her third year of training, and at Kurt's request was put on ice until a cure could be discovered. When she was eventually woken from her cryosleep, the delay in her treatment left her unable to graduate with the rest of her unit. She was offered a second chance as part of Gamma Company, where her previous experience as a Spartan recruit allowed her to excel early on and achieve success as the leader of Team Glaive. Her time in charge of Team Glaive was short-lived, however. At the war's conclusion, Erin's fireteam was disbanded. Alone, she was thrust into a VIP protection role in the Diplomatic Corps for a brief time before being invited into the Anvil Initiative after her actions following the Dar es-Salaam incident. Despite early tensions, Erin would eventually become close friends with her Riftborn partner Sintu. |

 Mobile warfare, also known as "walker warfare" or—informally— "mech warfare", is the use of walking vehicles in modern warfare. While long considered a marginal and esoteric doctrine, the practice of employing walking vehicles (or "mechs") in armed conflict has seen a resurgence since the beginning of the 26th century and proliferation in the balkanized galaxy following the Human-Covenant War. While fundamentally similar to armoured warfare in its use of armored vehicles, the enhanced mobility of walkers and their stability on the varied and often difficult terrain of extrasolar worlds has resulted in altogether new approaches to warfighting.  Winner of the 2024 Best Vehicle, Best Event award(s). G'day! I'm TheAussie1417, and I'm a very big fan of Halo, and its lore. I've always felt that many areas of Halo don't have as much depth to them as they could, unlike Warhammer or Star Wars, and so I've committed myself to either developing new avenues for canonical expansion, or just writing about ideas that pop into my head.
