| Shawn Corey Carter (born December 4, 1969), professionally known as Jay-Z, is an American rapper, record producer, and entrepreneur. He was named the greatest rapper of all time by Billboard and Vibe in 2023 and became the first rapper to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2017. His debut studio album, Reasonable Doubt, was released in 1996. This followed by a prolific run of albums dropping each year up to a total of eight, with the latter six debuted at number one of the Billboard 200. His next five albums achieved the top position, and all were certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). |
