Ye (born June 8, 1977), formerly known as Kanye West, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, and fashion designer. With 10 solo studio albums, 3 collaborative albums, 24 Grammy awards, and over 160 million records sold, Ye is regarded as one of the greatest hip-hop artists of the 21st century. Ye's style of music, from chipmunk soul to gospel, has influenced many of today's most popular artists, including Drake and Travis Scott. Ye first proved his talents to the world with Jay-Z's 2001 album, The Blueprint, in which many of the album's biggest hits were produced by Ye. He later proved his rapping talents with his first single, "Through The Wire", which released in 2003 following a near-fatal car crash the previous year. Time has named Ye one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2005 and 2015. Ye is also a fashion designer, creating the Yeezy shoes with Adidas. However, Ye has been involved in several controversies throughout the past few years due to his Republican and antisemitic views and comments, which included Ye praising Adolf Hitler in a now-infamous InfoWars interview on December 1, 2022.
