Welcome to the Lovejoy Wiki

Lovejoy is a British indie rock band based in Brighton, England. Vocalist Will Gold and guitarist Joe Goldsmith, previously members of the same folk punk band, assembled Lovejoy during the early days of the 2021 UK Covid lockdown. Lovejoy's first EP, Are You Alright?, and the music video for their song One Day, debuted on May 10, 2021. The band consists of Will Gold (lead vocals, rhythm guitar}, Joe Goldsmith (lead guitar, backing vocals), Ash Kabosu (bass), and Mark Boardman (drums).

RAVE REVIEWS AS LOVEJOY HEADLINES SUMMERFEST 2025
Lovejoy headlined Milwaukee, Wisconsin's Summerfest Miller Lite Oasis Stage on July 3. The set was met with rave reviews by local journalists and fans alike!

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel ranked Lovejoy among the top 25 best performances (out of over 600 artists)[1]

Tedd Lookatch for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel writes: "Despite the long distance and limited dates, there was no sign of rust. Led by frontman Wilbur Soot (Will Gold), the five-piece band powered through their catalog in a tight, energetic set. They were met by an intimate but fiercely loyal crowd that sang along with full-throated passion, giving the night an electric, communal feel...New single "With Rob As My Witness" was a high point, as was “Normal People Things,” both of which fans are eagerly awaiting on Lovejoy’s long-overdue full-length Debut Album— promised to be released very soon. Kudos to the Summerfest talent team for booking this seemingly big get."[2]

"Lovejoy proved to be a phenomenon in the making at Summerfest...The buzzing young English band had a small crowd, but they were certainly loud whenever the band did, well, anything on Thursday", raves Alan Halas for On Milwaukee. "From the reactions of the Miller Lite Oasis crowd to every movement and every open lyric from frontman William Gold and company, it certainly felt like big things are on the way for the band. The frenzy started before the band even hit the stage, with fans audibly counting down the seconds to the 10:15 start time before chanting the band’s name...It’s an impressive feat to be a Summerfest headliner without a full-length record out, and the band would acknowledge that missing piece of their discography, as well.“We’ve got an album coming out this year” said Gold, to a wave of screams. “Our debut album...There’s a different energy when you’re watching a band that is very visibly on the incline, and on Thursday night, that was more than evident at Summerfest. While the band didn’t have the biggest crowd on the festival grounds that night, they likely had one of the most enthusiastic, and the next time that they play Milwaukee, you can expect that it will be considerably bigger."[3]

The Lovejoy Nation Podcast also reviewed Lovejoy's set. Angie H writes "Lovejoy delivered right out of the gate with the frenetic, fast-paced "Normal People Things", a song that would set the tone for the rest of their set, followed by “Call Me What You Like” and “Perfume"...The unwavering intensity of the loyal Lovenjoyers in attendance seemed to fuel the band...the band appeared to appreciate the audience’s amped-up vibe, lending itself to a very synergistic, intimate atmosphere...“Perfect Blue”, another unreleased track from Lovejoy’s forthcoming debut album, was next on the setlist. True to its name, “Perfect Blue” has a very, well, bluesy feel, almost reminiscent of Cream’s Sunshine of Your Love (that’s a comparison I never thought I’d be making!), and really showcases Lovejoy’s ability to effectively dabble in any number of subgenres. The soulful guitar riffs combined with video artist Misha’s beautiful visual backdrops made this one of the evening’s highlights for me...I’ve been to my share of Lovejoy gigs, and they’ve never failed to impress, but their Summerfest set felt as if they’ve reached a completely new level of sound, skill, and artistic ability. I can’t wait to see how this carries over into their (assumed) forthcoming tour!"

Lovejoy History Lesson

Lovejoy took to Lollapalooza's T-Mobile Main Stage on Thursday, August 3, 3:00 pm CST, in Chicago, Illinois, USA, playing to an estimated 10,000 people[4]. Streaming service Hulu broadcast a livestream of Lovejoy's performance, along with other artists, for the duration of the festival. The night before their Lollapalooza performance, Lovejoy headlined a Lollapalooza Official 2023 Aftershow at the Bottom Lounge in Chicago. Vocalist Will Gold's in-ear monitors went out partway through one of the songs. Per his private Twitter account, August 3, 2023, "Just had all of my audio cut out in front of 10,000 people mid-song
Despite this holy shit whaaaAAAAAAA"
