Decorated Pot

The features on this page are exclusive to Experimental Gameplay in Bedrock Edition.

These features may be properly added in a future update, but currently require enabling one or more settings in the "Next Major Update" section of the Game Settings menu.

This article describes content that may be included in Java Edition.

This content has appeared in Java Edition 1.20 development versions, but the full update containing it has not been released yet.
This content already exists in Bedrock Edition.

A decorated pot is an ornamental block crafted from pottery shards or bricks.

Obtaining

Decorated pots can be broken with any tool and are mined instantly. A decorated pot drops the four pottery shards or bricks used to craft it when mined with a tool or itself if mined empty-handed or with Silk Touch.

Any Pottery Shard or Brick

The decorated pot's side textures will correspond to what item is used in the crafting. If a pottery shard is used, that side will have the texture of that pottery shard, if a brick is used, that side will have the default texture.

Usage

Decorated pots are used for decoration. Due to the top part of the decorated pot having no collision, other blocks can be placed on top of them, including other decorated pots.

Decorated pots will switch to the shattered sounds immediately before breaking when destroyed by a tool.

October 3, 2020		A clay pot and a painted clay pot were demonstrated at Minecraft Live 2020 as part of a gameplay mechanic that would include archeology.
February 7, 2023		The future announcement of decorated pots is hinted at by Roger Badgerman.
February 10, 2023		Sofia Dankis posts an article about upcoming archaeology features that announces decorated pots.
