The Sword Roses were formed by a group of students during their first year at Kimberly Magic Academy. The name came from member Nanao Hibiya's suggestion. A group of swords overlaid in a circle was called a "sword rose" in her native country, symbolizing a moment in time between allied warriors with a "flower" that cannot be scattered. As the students at Kimberly Magic Academy are also unaware of what tomorrow may bring, or if they will survive, the group agreed it was a fitting name for them.

Kimberly, the enchanted temple is giant, enigmatic building. It more closely resembles a fortress than a school, with grand decorations on on its outer walls and tall spires that seem to pierce the heavens. The architecture is Cygan, which was popular in the eighth century. Within its walls, you’ll find at least twenty banquet halls and over three hundred smaller rooms, although their numbers fluctuate depending on the day, and new rooms are often discovered. The building’s size as it appears from the outside clearly does not match its interior— and that doesn’t even take into account the innumerable mysterious places contained within the dark bowels of this magical palace.

With their brief respite over, our heroes begin their fourth year at Kimberly Magic Academy. The school is still rocked by the “disappearance” of the philosopher, Demitrio—and a lineup of new oddball teachers arrive to fill in the gaps. Chief among them is the Great Sage Rod Farquois, a reversi. Concerned for his friends and certain that the new winds Farquois brings will lead to storms, Oliver urges everyone to exercise caution. Meanwhile, Pete and Guy seek new bonds and strengths, hoping to match their comrades. But a mage’s life is hell, and it will not give them solace. Once more, this year, in the labyrinth’s depths...someone will be consumed by the spell.
